My daughter attended Camp Cookie this week.  This is her first year trying Girl Scout camp.  I've been trying to get her to try it since she was a Brownie, but she has never gotten up the courage until this summer.  She is absolutely having the time of her life.  Every day she comes home tired, dirty and very happy.  All of the camp staff she has encountered have been great.  She is very much looking forward to the sleepover next Wednesday night. I am thrilled with her camp experience so far.  Many thanks to you and your staff.

Camp - Day Camp

The vision:
Girl Scouts of Rhode Island Day Camps provide a safe, nurturing, outdoor environment for girls. Girls will have many opportunities to learn, explore, create, cooperate and decide while focusing on the Girl Scout program goals at our four day camps. Girls and staff are respected, encouraged, supported, challenged and inspired by our programs, our staff, our campers and our natural setting.

The campers:
Approximately 100-140 girls attend the camps each session. They come from various racial, ethnic, geographic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds. Some come to camp with a strong Girl Scout background, while others are experiencing a Girl Scout program for the first time. The campers range in age from 5-14. Girls are very interested in exploring their world, leadership opportunities and making new friends.

The program:
Girls can choose to come to day camp for any one of the 2-week sessions offered. Girls are placed in "units" according to their age and experience. Girls receive swimming instruction on a daily basis, where facilities permit, and may have activities such as fire building, outdoor cooking, nature walks, boating and hikes. All activities are based on the four Girl Scout program goals: developing self-potential, relating to others with increased understanding and respect, developing values and contributing to the improvement of society.
