TRAINING COURSE DESCRIPTIONS AND SCHEDULE
Adult Training - ALL Training Opportunities Require Pre-Registration Please do not attend a training without registering with GSRI. Call 401-331-4500 ext. 1202 for more information on registering for a training.
Basic Leadership Training - Please note that titles for Basic Leader Training Sessions have changed to conform to the new GSUSA guidelines. The sessions are now called Leadership Essentials (Session A) Program, Policies and Structure (Session B), Session C continues to be called Outdoor Day. Purpose: To develop basic competencies needed to be a Girl Scout leader; age level program design, indoor/outdoor activities, group management, girl development valuing and promoting diversity, leadership skills, safety awareness, council policies and procedures. Attendance: You must complete all parts to be a trained leader. Parts A & B are offered on the same or different days to help accomodate your schedule. Part C is offered on select Saturdays April - November. Bring: Completed BLT (click here) pre-training worksheet and appropriate age-level books if you have them. Books will be available for sale at trainings. For the Outdoor Day or all-day session, bring a BAG LUNCH.

AGE LEVEL CHANGE - For Experienced Leaders Purpose: If you are moving up from one age-level to another, sign up to attend an age-level change workshop. This course will provide an introduction to the new Journey books, as well as other program activities. Prerequisite: Basic Leadership Training Bring: GSRI Leader Manual and appropriate age-level books if you have them. Books will be available for sale.

AEC # Junior AEC # Cadette, Senior, Ambassador AEC # 1700A, B or C Saturday, December 6 9:30am-12:00pm Wellville, Camp Hoffman, West Kingston, RI TROOP/GROUP CAMP TRAINING Purpose: To provide adults with the basic knowledge, skills, planning, methods and techniques to enable troops to have a successful troop camp experience. Prerequisite for ALL Troop Camp Training: Completed Basic Leadership Outdoor Day. Successful completion of Troop Camp Training will qualify an adult to take a troop cabin and/or platform tent camping. Attendance at ALL sessions of each course is mandatory for completion. FEE - $15.00 AEC # Troop Camp Refresher Course: The purpose of this course is for leaders that have completed Troop Camp Training prior to 2003. This course is intended to update leaders on polcies, procedures, and updates at the camps. Prerequisite: Troop Camp Training (prior to 2003) AEC# AEC ## TROOP TRIPS 2
Troop Trips 2 is required for all leaders planning trips of more than 100 miles beyond their communities and/or overnight trips.
AEC # 2200A Thursday, December 11 7:30-9:30pm Council Office, Providence FIRST AID/CPR First Aid and CPR training are required for at least one adult accompanying troops on trips or outings. Completion of the below courses will meet the First Aid requirement of the Leadership Development Award. FEE - $25 payable day of training - cash or check only

RANGER TRAINING - Adults who have completed Troop Camp TrainingVolunteers who complete this training will be eligible to spend weekends at Camp Hoffman in W. Kingston as Rangers, people who are on-call to answer questions and help troops and groups using the facilities. Check back for 2009 date.
PROGRAM AIDE FOR ADULTS The GSUSA Program Aide design will be offered to all 11-17 leaders or other adults who wish to give Program Aide training to girls in grades seven through twelve. GIRL TRAINING PROGRAM AIDE Prerequisite: 7th to 9th Grades Purpose: Complete the Program Aide Training course and learn how to select, plan and present age-appropriate activities to younger girls. Develop leadership skills and use your training to serve in a leadership capacity to meet the requirements of the Silver or Gold Leadership award. FEE - $5.00 (manual and pin)

Leader-in-Training I (LIT -I) Prerequisite: For girls who have completed 9th grade Prepare: By reviewing your GSUSA Program Aide notes. If you have not done the Program Aide training, you may still attend LIT-I. Fee: $10.00 (lodging, beverages, LIT-1 Manual & LIT-1 pin) AEC # Leader-in-Training II (LIT-II) Prerequisites: In Grade 10 or older, completed Leader-in-Training, part 1, Camp experience (troop, day or resident) and familiar with outdoor skills Purpose: At the end of this training, a girl will be able to organize and run (with standard adult supervision) troop/group outdoor program, including troop/group camp.
