In the United States today, there are nearly 4 million Girl Scouts...2.7 million girl members and 986,000 adult members! - In 2007, Girl Scouts of Rhode Island served 13,595 girls ages 5-17 and 3,545 adults in all 53 communities in our jurisdiction!
- In 2007, $220 was required to support one girl in Girl Scouting for the year.
Did you know: - 88% of Girl Scouts, when surveyed, said that Girl Scouting has definitely given them ideas about what they could do when they become adults;
- 81% of Juniors said that GIrl Scouts is preparing them to be "somone who can make her own choices."
- 2/3 of Senior Girl Scouts said that they very often make decisions about what goes on in their troops, wherease only 1/4 of them make decisions about what goes on in their school classroom;
- 78% of Hispanic Girl Scouts say that they are very satisfied with their chances to lead;
- 7 of 10 Girl Scouts say the Girl Scout Promise and Law have been useful in their lives;
- 2 in every 3 women feel that the interpersonal skills learned at an early age in the Girl Scouts had a direct positive payoff much later in life.
