Volunteer - Types of Volunteer Jobs

Troop/Group Advisor
September through June

  • Meet once a week
  • The advisor is responsible for the overall program and management of a troop/group
  • Works with parents and assistant advisors to provide the Girl Scout program
  • Maintains accurate records
  • Attend monthly support meetings with other advisors in the community to get up-to-date information of events happening within the council and community
  • Training is required and provided free*
  • Time commitment is typically three to four hours a week


Troop/Group Advisor
four to six weeks

  • Program curriculum and materials provided
  • Meet once a week
  • The Advisor is responsible for the overall program and management of a troop/group
  • Works with parents and assistant advisors to provide the Girl Scout program
  • Maintains accurate records
  • Training is required and provided free*
  • Time commitment is typically three to four hours a week


Assistant Advisor
September through June

  • Assist with the program and management of the troop/group
  • Help with activities
  • Work with other advisors and parents to insure that the Girl Scout program is carried out
  • Total time commitment is typically two to three hours a week
  • Training is available*


Administrative Volunteers
If you want to work indirectly with girls, there are many administrative positions that serve the council as a whole or an individual community.  You could help with program, camp, fundraising,  or increase membership in your community and everything in between.  Opportunities are endless based on your skills and interests.   • Distribute all materials
  • Train volunteers
  • Collect orders
  • Distribute product and incentives

Turn-In Day (cookie sale)

  • Collect cookie sale orders on Turn-In Days at the council office.  Check paperwork and verify payments.

Special Event Volunteer
A variety of jobs are available from coordinating an event to assisting with activities at the event.  Events could target the entire council area or just specific communities or groups.
* CEU credits may apply.
